A family owned & operated Madison & Dane county legend! Awesome and skillfully decorated cakes, delicious doughnuts, cookies and other bakery. Don’t skip this place when in Madison.
Blueberry danish great filling. Carrot cupcake very moist and not too sweet frosting. Both maybe best of type I ever had. Selection will be more limited later in the day.
Pumpkin Kringle was really good. Only got to have a slice at the park but I’ll come in person and try out more stuff.
Okay I bought one and it’s good but not as good. The cheese topping is awesome. The frosting is too heavily spiced. The filling gets lost in everything.
Cream filling cronut was fine. But the filling was kind of bland and there was way too much of it to the point that there seemed to be not enough donut. I removed some cream and that improved it some.
The donuts are deliciously soft and fresh tasting! When you go inside and look, it's hard to tell what kind of the donuts are just by looking at them. I didn't know what was filled with what nothing was labeled. No clue if there was raspberry filled. I opted for a nut pershing and a chocolate ring; tge chocolate is too sweet. Would be a perfect match with a cup of their coffee, ice or hot!
On my birthday March 17 , I had no one to celebrate with, so I went to lanes bakery after 33 yrs. As I had moved to Las vegas , it had been awhile since I got my dounts here. The owner heard me say it was my birthday so he gave me a dozen white chocolate cookies ! That made my day ! What a wonderful gift that was. Thank you so much for your kindness. Disappointed on the lack of choices for an early Tuesday morning. No fritters, limited scone options, nothing savory. Would have liked to see more plain options. Nothing gluten free at the time. Plenty of seating. Staff were very friendly.
Visited this place on a whim as I was passing through and asked if they would pack the cookies so they didn't crumble while I was traveling. The lady was very friendly and took the extra time to do a thorough job. They made it through TSA and the plane ride, they were in perfect shape when I got back to St. Louis!
Always sad when a long-time business closes. Not sure if the owners are simply ready to retire or if the business just isn't as sustainable nowadays with changing tastes of the younger generation. I wish them the best, a lot of customers will miss this bakery.
